Heritage Day Celebrations in Murphys

Long time residents of Murphys will celebrate their Heritage Day this coming Sunday. The organizers to the festival have prepared a parade, several brass bands, bingo games and a special lunch for those people belonging to the age bracket of 70 years old and above and who are currently living in Murphys and in the areas of Vallecito or Douglas Flat for at least a decade.

The celebration begins at exactly 7:00 a.m. with a $5 dollar pancake breakfast that will be held in the Native Sons of the Golden West Hall on Main Street.

The parade for the Heritage Day starts at 10:00 a.m. at the front of the Murphys Hotel at Algiers and Main Streets. The activities will move in the Murphys Park after the parade ends.

The anticipated Bingo game will start at exactly 11:00 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. The Murphys Creek will host the Fun Rubber Duck Race that will start from noon and finish at 1:30 p.m. Other events such as the balloon and egg tosses will start at around 2:00 p.m. The whole affair will end at 4:00 p.m.
