Brett Hyrjak Declared National Champion of the Bingo Caller of the Year of Competition
Bingo Caller, Brett Hyrjak, was named the National Bingo Caller Champion in the recently concluded Bingo Caller of the Year Tournament held at the Gala Bingo Club located in South East London on November 27, 2006. In effect, he won a Las Vegas Trip for himself and his girlfriend. The yearly search for Britain's Bingo Caller saw 6 participants fight it out for the right to be called the best bingo caller in the county in front of a distinguish panel of judges.
The contestants performed an entertainment piece in front of the judges. The champion, Brett Hyrjak, is from Bognor Regis' Gala Bingo Club and in the contest, he was really put to the test. Aside from his entertainment piece, he had to answer questions about the bingo industry. Hyrjak said that he was really astounded by his win and good fortune. He also said that he will try his best to be a good ambassador for the game of bingo. Brett was introduced to the game by his mother almost 7 years ago.
Brett said that in general, he thinks that one skill that a bingo caller must possess is friendliness, the ability to easily relate to others. Aside from the Las Vegas Trip, Brett won 500 pounds in prize money and the great opportunity to call a game at one of the prestigious casinos in Las Vegas. Gloria Pattinson, one of the judges and organizers of the event said that she is very happy that Brett won this year because she has personally witnessed his talent and capability.
Pattinson added that this yearly competition also helps raise public awareness of how great the game is and changes their perception of the game. In closing, Brett added that it is always a great feeling to make your customers happy and enjoy every minute of their stay in the bingo hall.
