Authorities were looking for 2 men suspected of robbing a bingo hall in Virden on Sunday, November 26, 2006. The Royal Canadian Mountain Police said that the suspected robbers were called into the Royal Canadian Legion in Virden at 7:20 p.m. after they entered the bingo gaming facility, grabbed the contents of the cash drawer and tried to flee the scene of the crime.
A stand-off occurred when an individual inside the bingo hall tried to stop the robbers at the doors, but the victim was knocked down for his efforts. The 2 robbers managed to get away with a small amount of money, despite being pursued by some people from the bingo hall.
According to eye witnesses, the two suspects are 5 ft 8 to 6 ft tall and both men were dressed in black clothing. Police officers said that one man wore a mask over his face described as balaclava and the other suspect wore a black scarf over his face.
The RCMP further added that the suspects' actions were precise and exact so they are thinking that the two are very familiar with the lay-out of the gaming facility.
