House Legislature has Passed the Rules Needed for Bingo Gaming in Arkansas

On February 17, 2007, the House Legislation in Little Rock approved the rules and laws that are needed to govern both the charitable bingo games and raffle games in Arkansas. Voters gave their nod of approval for the bingo and raffle games on November 7, 2006 during the U.S. mid-term elections.

The House approved of the measure despite opposition from some members of the legislature who were asking about the fees and corresponding taxes which will be implemented on bingo and raffle games. The regulatory measures for the charity bingo and raffle games are important so that large operators from out of state cannot take advantage of the charitable games and manipulate them for their own benefit.

The House gave their nod of approval on the measure in a 53-45 vote. The proposal also states details on the licensing fees that charity organizations have to pay, the hours of operation that they could open their gaming operations and other laws that will be applied in both the charitable bingo and raffle operations. The proposal will now be given to the senate for approval.
