Authorities in Houma Arrest Pair for Bingo Hall Robbery

Local authorities in Houma arrested two people who are suspected of the bingo hall robbery that happened at the Mardi Gras Bingo Hall around 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2006. Lt. Todd Duplantis, the spokesperson for the Houma Police Department said that 28 year-old Timmy Patrick Prentice broke into the bingo hall while a bingo session was in progress and began asking questions on how to play the game.

Timmy Prentice then marched into the pay-out detail, grabbed the bag containing the money and them ran out of the bingo hall. According to witnesses, they saw the suspect board a green 1996 Ford Taurus as his get away vehicle from the bingo hall. Authorities were able to track down the vehicle in a short time and then arrested the suspect two hours after the incident.

Lt. Todd Duplantis further added that Mr. Prentice was charged with felony theft and then jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Jail while awaiting his trial. Authorities further learn that Garry Neil Prater, 46 years of age, was the driver of the get away vehicle of Mr. Timmy Prentice.

Authorities then arrested Garry Prater at the latter's home on 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2006. Lt. Duplantis added that the police have found a crack pipe and other drug paraphernalia during their search of the house of Garry Prater. The suspect was also charged of felony theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
